Graduation Day 2018
Carmel College of Arts, Science & Commerce for Women, Nuvem, Salcette Goa, for the first time had the Under Graduate Course Completion Ceremony on the 23rd of June 2018. The ceremony was graced by Dr. Ajit Parulekar, Director, Goa Institute of Management who kindly consented to confer the Certificate on 93 Arts, 49 Science and 38 Commerce students. The other dignitaries for the auspicious occasion were The Manager, Carmel College, Nuvem, Sr. Matilda Madtha A.C. who has just taken over the reins, The Principal of the College, Dr. Sr. Maria Aradhana A.C. and the Vice-Principal, Dr. Sr. Maria Lizanne A.C. Faculty members were all in attendance. Parents of the graduands were invited and many attended. The Chief Guest, Dr. Ajit Parulekar, was introduced to the audience by the anchor, Ms. Roxana Singh, Head, Department of English. His inspiring commencement speech was peppered with words of appreciation and encouragement for the students. The final message he delivered was the importance of 3Cs in all they did in the future – Competence, Creativity and Character. The students then made a Pledge of Commitment led by the Vice-Principal followed by vociferous singing of the college anthem. Ms Leesha Rodrigues, a competent and confident student from the Commerce Department, who is also the Commerce topper, spoke on behalf of the class of 2018. The Manager spelt out to the graduands what is expected of them as Carmel College graduates through her message, at the end of which she declared all of them Graduates of the Academic Year 2017-2018. The formal program came to an end with the singing of the National Anthem. Second year BA students Mansi and Madhura did a very good job of capturing the memorable moments of the day. Dr. Sr. Maria Lizanne A.C. and Mr. Agnelo Dias of the History Department are to be lauded for the meticulous and detailed planning to make this day one of the best days on campus in the lives of the class of 2018.
