Silent Valley Nature Camp
The EPC
members of Carmel College
accompanied by two lecturers went
on a study trip to Silent Valley
National Park in Palakkad, Kerala,
which is a part of the Nilgiri
Biosphere Reserve from the 24th
to the 26th of December
2010. This trip was organized in
commemoration of the International
Year of Biodiversity 2010 which was
declared by IUCN.
Silent Valley
National Park is one of the
rarest Rainforests in the world
and is a home for many endangered &
endemic Biodiversity. The team
guided by Dr. Satish, the
Scientific officer, explored into
the thickest regions of the forest
.
Late evenings
were busy with slideshows, and
scientific presentations on Silent
Valley by experts in the field.
Early morning meditation was an
integral part of the programme
The trip to
Silent Valley National Park was
extremely educational for the
students in enriching their
knowledge base about flora & fauna
and was an enjoyable and fascinating
experience.
