Carmel College Crest and Motto:
On the outer edge there are lotus petals. In the inner circle, the hill of Carmel surmounted by a cross, an open book, and a hand holding a lighted torch.
The Lotus petals
are a symbol of Indian womanhood.
An Indian woman is one who is ready
for service and sacrifice. She goes
forward whenever she can give herself
to others. These petals typify the
students, learning and working together
to stand for what the crest upholds.
The hill of Carmel
surmounted by a cross stands for
prayer, sacrifice and suffering,
which should play an important part
in the life of a woman.
The open book is
a symbol of knowledge. The source
of this knowledge is God himself
in Whom originate our ideals, our
joys and efforts.
“ A constant
yearning to know the inner Spirit
and a vision of Truth which gives
liberation. This is true Wisdom
leading to vision. All against this
is ignorance!” (Bhagwad Gita).
Our Motto: “Satyam Eva Mukti Danam”
“Truth is the gift and the giver of Freedom”
We uphold Truth at all costs and
under all circumstances. With the
advance of science and progress
in every field our motto will be
an incentive to choose the right,
the noble and the true
