MANAGEMENT
The Congregation
of the Sisters of Apostolic Carmel
is an Indian Congregation which
was founded in 1870 by Mother Veronica,
a Holy and dedicated woman, who
was divinely inspired to reach out
to the young girls of her day.
From
a tiny seed, this Congregation has
spread all over India, Sri Lanka,
Kuwait, Rome, Pakistan, Africa and
Bahrain. The Apostolic Carmel Sisters,
captured by the love of Christ and
his message go forth to share his
Mission in the world, joyously proclaiming
the Good News as they work for the
all-round development and social
uplift of young people in Colleges,
Schools, Technical schools, Training
colleges and Schools for the Mentally
Challenged, and render services
to the needy through Dispensaries,
Creches, Community Development Centres
in Mission Stations. Drawing strength
from prayer, contemplation and the
bond of community life, the sisters
realize their apostolic ministries
as teachers, social workers, doctors,
and nurses and live out their prophetic
vocation bearing witness to God
in whichever sphere they are placed.
After the example of Mary our Mother,
they go out to share God’s
love with everyone, through education
and other forms of social service,
with special focus on children,
youth, women and the needy, proclaiming
by their lives that God alone suffices.
The education imparted by the Apostolic
Carmel is geared towards the total
development of the person by instilling
in them Gospel values and forming
them into responsible citizens equipped
to work for the transformation of
Society. In Goa, we have six houses
– Holy Rosary Convent, Nuvem,
Carmel College for Women, Nuvem,
Fatima Convent, Margao, Carmel Seva
Mandir, Borda, St. Mary’s
Convent, Mapuca and Rosa Mystica
Convent, Aldona. Besides a large
number of schools and training centres,
the Congregation runs Patna Women’s
College in Patna, Providence college
in Calicut, Carmel College in Goa,
St. Agnes College in Mangalore,
and St. Ann’s College of Education
in Karnataka.
Enriched
by the knowledge gained here, our
students are inspired to share what
they have gained with others, especially
with the less fortunate.
