Litzkrieg 2011

The annual inter-class, Literature and Media Festival, Litzkrieg 2011, organized by the Department of English, Carmel College for Women, was held in the College campus on 21st and 22nd July.  Aimed to foster literary and aesthetic skills among students, this festival consisted of various off-stage and on-stage events. The Principal Dr. Sr. M. Aradhana A.C., lit the lamp along with faculty members, one each from the streams of Arts, Science and Commerce, thus inaugurating the Festival.

The off-stage events consisted of the Rainbow Quest – a treasure-hunt based on clues hidden in poetic lines; face-painting based on the theme ‘Panorama of Life'; Crossword, Poetry writing and Cartoon Lampoon with charcoal. The topics for the Cartoon-Lampoon were: Stupid Cupid—Roadside Romeo, English? Konkani? Konklish!  and The rising price of petrol.  About 150 students participated in the off-stage events amidst a lot of cheer and enthusiasm.

The on-stage events consisted of the Carmel Orator Contest and the Character Fancy-dress. Participants of the Orator Contest delivered speeches of famous personalities like Obama, M.K. Gandhi, Abdul Kalam, Martin Luther King, Mother Theresa, Nelson Mandela and so on. Contestants were judged for their posture, gestures, vocal expression and facial expression. The judges for this event were Mr. Augusto Pinto, HOD, Dept of English, Dempo College of Commerce and Economics, Panjim ; and Mrs. Grace Kare, a faculty member of Adarsh Institute of Management, Fatorda-Margao.  Ms Christabel De Souza won the Carmel Orator trophy while Ms Dipika Rajpurohit and Ms Valarie Carvalho were declared the first and second runner-up respectively.
