One-day National Seminar–
Contemporary Goa : Issues &
Prospects was held on 19th
sept.2011, to commemorate 50
eventful years since Goa’s
Liberation. The Chief Guest of the
function was Dr. Celsa Pinto,
Director of Education. The Keynote
speaker was Rev. Dr. Pius
Malekandathil, of JNU, Delhi who
enlightened the audience about the
history of our land and its people.
Other resource persons were Mr.
Clinton Vaz who graphically
explained about Environmental
concerns and Waste Management in Goa
and suggested remedial steps that
could be taken. Mr. Ashley Do
Rosario spoke on the Media - a
Fourth or Froth Estate, Judge
Desmond D’Costa spoke on Protection
of Child Rights in Goa and Ms. Auda
Viegas spoke on Cross Country
Trafficking in Women.
The seminar
had representation from 22
institutions and 150 participants.
The concept of the seminar ws
explained by the HOD. The staff and
students of the History department
put in great efforts for the success
of this programme
