BIOFEST
The Faculty of Life Sciences (Botany, Zoology and Biotechnology) observed the International Year of Biodiversity (2010) by organizing a two day “Bio-Fest” on 14th and 15th December in association with the Forest Department, South Goa Division. Various off-stage and on stage competitions included the Slogan contest, Clay modeling and Domesticated Biodiversity (Pets and Potted plants) Show.
On the concluding day, Principal, Dr. Sr. M. Aradhana A.C. welcomed the gathering emphasizing the concept of Biodiversity conservation and its significance for the continued sustenance of life on earth. Mr. Francis Araujo, Deputy Conservator of Forests, South Goa, was the Chief Guest for the occasion, during which a fancy dress competition depicting biodiversity in mythology and dance competitions were staged. An impressive Power Point Presentation competition was the highlight of the programme. The Chief Guest in his address called upon the youngsters to be the crusaders for a Greener Planet.
Cash prizes and certificates were given to the winners of the various competitions. Ms. Lubnaz Nagarchi proposed the vote of thanks. The two eventful days of Bio-Fest succeeded in creating awareness of Biodiversity and its conservation among the youngsters.
